Fr. James J. Greenfield, OSFS, is an Oblate of St. Francis de Sales and has worked in a variety of educational roles at the university level, and also as director of a number of Salesian programs for his community prior to his present ministry as its provincial superior of the Wilmington-Philadelphia Province, a position he has served since January 2008. He is also the president of the Congregation of Major Superiors of Men and enjoys working with fellow religious in the United States. He now lives with his local Oblate community in Wilmington, DE. Fr. Greenfield followed his undergraduate degree in politics from DeSales University with master’s degrees in divinity and counseling from DeSales School of Theology and George Washington University, respectively. He later returned to GW to earn his doctorate in human development.
Working many years in Washington, D.C., Fr. Greenfield has served in a number of parishes for weekend ministry, where he greatly enjoys preaching and celebrating Mass. He has traveled throughout the various regions of his province leading parish missions, retreats, and days of recollection. He is a certified pastoral counselor and author of a number of articles on religious life, seminary formation and the intersection of spirituality and human development.
