Fr. Daniel P. Horan, OFM, is a Franciscan Friar of Holy Name Province, a columnist at America magazine, and the author of several books, including The Last Words of Jesus: A Meditation on Love and Suffering (2013), Francis of Assisi and the Future of Faith: Exploring Franciscan Spirituality and Theology in the Modern World (2012), and Dating God: Live and Love in the Way of St. Francis (2012). In addition to his award-winning popular writing, Fr. Dan has published dozens of articles in scholarly journals including Theological Studies, New Blackfriars, Worship, Cistercian Studies Quarterly, and The Merton Annual, among others. He has previously taught in the Department of Religious Studies at Siena College and the Department of Theology at St. Bonaventure University. A frequently sought-after speaker, Fr. Dan has lectured, directed retreats, and led workshops around the United States and in Europe. He is currently completing a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology at Boston College. Additionally, Fr. Dan is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the International Thomas Merton Society.
